Designed by Iñigo Calleja for a firm specialising in luxury interior design and crafted by AMBER, UC148 began with a brief to create a simple kitchen table with a sculptural character, built around a sintered mineral tabletop in an unusual dark tone.
The base consists of four cylindrical legs made from reclaimed old Tea timber, whose pronounced grain and scars retain traces of the wood’s origins. The cylindrical form softens the raw character of the timber and lightens its visual presence. An intermediate platform connects the legs to the tabletop, providing structural support while creating a visual link between the two elements.
The rectangular tabletop, with its rounded edges, maintains the simplicity of the overall design. The two rear legs are offset from the front pair, a detail that changes the table’s appearance from different viewing angles and offers a wide range of photographic possibilities.
The black oil-and-wax finish darkens the timber while allowing glimpses of the pine’s original orange tones to show through and accentuating its grain. AMBER’s small pine-cone emblem is discreetly integrated into the design.
