Every August, Iñigo's family gathers in Lobera, Palencia — brothers, nephews, grandparents. The days move slowly. Good food, chilly swims in the river, long siestas. By the second week the mind gets restless and the drawing starts.
This piece came out of one of those afternoons over coffee with his mother.
A solid floor lamp with a strong, sculptural AMBER base in recovered French oak — a long neck rising toward the top. A base that sculptural was never going to accept a conventional shade. But at the time we had no way of making anything translucent.
The solution came from the base itself. We used it as a positive mould and built up the lampshade through layers of laminated paper — a material that holds its form while letting light through.
It mirrors the base exactly, the same form, upside down.
UC68 was presented at Marbella Design 2023. A prominent Barcelona studio acquired it for their exhibition and projects.
