His first job out of telecoms engineering school was in BMW's audio division in Germany surrounded by anechoic chambers, frequency analysers, and the kind of obsessive attention to sound quality that never quite leaves you. Thirty years later, that same obsession found a different form.

Designed by Iñigo Calleja, a pair of three-way, 140W speakers the hardware of serious listening mounted in a hand-carved structure of American and Spanish oak. The wood dictates nothing about the sound. It dictates everything about how the object feels in a room: the weight of it, the grain, the sense that something was made rather than assembled.

For anyone who grew up with the warm, imperfect glow of vintage electronics old televisions, valve amplifiers, the particular aesthetic of things built to last this piece will be immediately familiar. For everyone else, it is simply a beautiful object that happens to fill a room with sound.
